Codemasters lately introduced that it was ending growth for EA Sports activities WRC and that it was pausing growth on all future rally racing sims. Now, as many suspected, the studio has confirmed that that change goes hand-in-hand with a wave of layoffs.

Codemasters has confirmed to VGC that because it winds down its rally racing growth pipeline, it’s additionally “eliminating roles.” The studio doesn’t say precisely what number of jobs it’s chopping, although it does state that it is going to be reassigning some folks throughout different studios and tasks throughout EA Sports activities.

“As a enterprise, we’re continuously evolving to satisfy the rising wants of our gamers and driving higher focus throughout our portfolio,” a Codemasters spokesperson stated. “This has led us to have a look at lowering some roles, whereas we redeploy as many as doable towards our strategic priorities.”

Codemasters isn’t the one Digital Arts studio to undergo layoffs. Final week, EA confirmed that it had eradicated roughly 300 roles throughout all of its studios, together with Respawn Leisure. Experiences have claimed that Respawn alone needed to reduce about 100 jobs, together with cancelling a Titanfall spinoff extraction shooter.

Sadly, this isn’t the primary time of late that Codemasters has suffered layoffs both. The developer additionally needed to eradicate roles again in December 2023.
