Panache Digital Games’ 1666: Amsterdam, best known as the next title from Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets, has had a long journey. And while it’s only just beginning, early access remains an auspicious occasion, especially since it begins on August 25th for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

But that’s not all, as the developer has delved into a core mechanic of Noa and Aaron’s battle against the Originals: The day-night cycle. During the day, Noa can traverse Amsterdam, searching for clues on the entities to ascertain their identities. You can use magic, but that will draw attention.

Aaron is the other side of the coin, since his abilities can open up other opportunities. Once the night falls and the Originals come out to play, it’s your chance to confront them. And while you’ll need to prepare heavily, Noa is capable of using her spells without repercussions.

Of course, every Original is different, and they’ll require different tactics. Preparation is everything, so not slacking during the day and finding out as much as possible is key.

Once 1666: Amsterdam launches, it’s expected to remain in early access for about a year, though plans could always change. Nevertheless, players will have access to about 15 hours of gameplay, which comprises the first part of the campaign. Stay tuned for more details en route to launch and check out the free Prologue demo until then.
