007 First Light 1-Hour Free Trial Available to PS Plus Premium and Deluxe Subscribers

PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe subscribers can now give 007 First Light a shot through an hour-long free trial. The demo will allow players to carry over their save data into the full game if they decide to buy it, and in its current state, it includes the opening moments of the game, like the prologue mission and the tutorials. However, since it is limited to being just one hour long, players won’t get access to some of the deeper gameplay mechanics of 007 First Light, which only starts opening up once the first real mission kicks off.

The free trial’s arrival coincides with 007 First Light also going on sale in some regions. In the US PlayStation Store, for instance, it is available at 40 percent off, bringing its price down to around $42.

007 First Light was released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in May, and has been a critical and commercial success since then. The title serves as an origin story for James Bond – played by Patrick Gibson – and revolves around his first few missions for MI6 as part of the spy agency’s newly rebooted 00 program. The story itself has Bond – a Royal Navy Aircrewman trainee – find himself in the middle of a situation well beyond his control. This situation, however, ends up paving his path into MI6, where he goes on to assume the 007 moniker.

One of the core characters of the story is Bond’s mentor John Greenway – played by Lennie James. The two work together to expose a massive conspiracy that threatens not only the UK, but the entire world. The adventure itself takes Bond across the world, from Iceland to Malta to Vietnam and Mauritania, among other places.

On the gameplay side of things, 007 First Light bears some resemblance to IO Interactive’s Hitman franchise. However, the studio has introduced a number of aspects to encourage improvisational gameplay rather than the more planning-oriented style of the Hitman games. This includes the ability for Bond to bluff his way through situations, and even partake in massive gunfights if the situation calls for it. There are also a number of set pieces that will see Bond driving vehicles in epic chase sequences, and even fighting his way through a plane before jumping off.

A Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light was originally planned to come out alongside the other ports. However, IO Interactive has said that it needs more time to polish the port. It is currently slated for release on March 18th, 2027, and even includes a pre-order bonus – the iconic suit from GoldenEye.

Following its release, IO Interactive has continued to support 007 First Light with post-launch updates that have brought in new features and content to the TacSim mode. Along with this, the game has also gotten a new difficulty option, a Photo Mode, and even a New Game+ mode for those who want to re-experience the journey.
