Last fall, we first learned about a new multiplayer project coming from XLGAMES called – and yes, this is its real name – The Cube, Save Us. It’s a horror-driven post-apoc extraction shooter where players are basically entering the titular alien Cube to engage in survival scenarios. It was originally meant to launch by the end of 2025, but player feedback – particularly revolving around poor performance – led the devs to push the PvPvE game’s early access into 2026. Why, that would be… now.
Yep, free-to-play early access has officially begun.
“THE CUBE, SAVE US is a PvPvE-based extraction action game set on a devastated Earth following nuclear war. Players explore 27 fragments inside the massive alien structure known as the “Cube,” securing resources and surviving long enough to escape. Each play session features dynamically assembled map layouts and melee-focused combat, offering a tense gameplay experience distinct from traditional firearm-centric titles.”
XLGAMES and Studio Cube (yes) say that the F2P business model is strictly not pay-to-win, with only cosmetics on sale – content won’t be sold, nor will “paid items that affect combat power or survival rates.” XLGAMES vows to “continue updating and improving the game throughout the Early Access period.”
