The Fancy Bow is the greatest mystery in Mewgenics. Whereas most items tell you exactly what they do when you click on them, the Fancy Bow will just tell you “it’s fancy,” and nothing more. Still, as a beautiful pink headpiece, it looks great on your cats.
If you’d like to obtain this fashionable item, here’s where to find and how to use the Fancy Bow in Mewgenics.
Update (Feb. 20): The true purpose of the Fancy Bow has been discovered. We’ve updated this guide with details on how to use it.
How to get the Fancy Bow in Mewgenics
You’ll be given the Fancy Bow when you donate a kitten to Tink for the first time. This should happen shortly after you’ve completed The Alley and unlocked The Sewers. While your neighbors Frank and Butch will ask for retired and battle-hardened cats, respectively, Tink only accepts kittens, which includes all newly born cats (under the age of two).
To find Tink, open the map and click on his icon in the bottom right corner. To donate a kitten, select one and click the small pipe icon in their profile. If the cat is suitable for donation to Tink, you’ll see his head next to the pipe icon.
If you’ve lost your Fancy Bow, there isn’t a confirmed way to get it a second time (other than starting a new save) at the time of this writing. Once a method is discovered, we’ll update this guide with more information.
How to use the Fancy Bow in Mewgenics
Although the Mewgenics Fancy Bow appears to be a purely cosmetic item, it’s actually a very powerful combat tool, but only in the (very) late game. As Tink hints, “It may seem useless now, but in the right light, the color is just to die for. Seriously, this bow could make God cry!”
And that’s exactly what it does; thanks to this video by Accelerated Ideas on YouTube, we know that the Fancy Bow makes it much easier to defeat the final boss in Mewgenics: The Creator. To use it, be sure to equip the Fancy Bow on one of your cats before you start this battle. During the first phase, defeat your team’s clones, and then, during phase two, let the cat with the Fancy Bow attack The Creator (any attack will do). Dealing 999 attack damage in a single hit, instantly defeating the boss.
As the developers said, it will take months or even years to discover every secret in Mewgenics, so the Fancy Bow may not be the only item with a secret use. Don’t let that stop you from clearing your inventory when necessary, though, as long as you hold on to your bow; dump your cats if you must, but never your Fancy Bow!
