Team Ninja’s Nioh 3 is now available for PS5 and PC, marking the series’ first simultaneous launch on both platforms. Perhaps even more notable is that it’s the biggest release on Steam for the series yet, peaking at 70,186 concurrent players (and that’s before the weekend has begun).
Comparatively, Nioh: Complete Edition peaked at 10,649 concurrent players while Nioh 2 managed 41,325 concurrent. The latter likely benefitted from the first game’s positive word of mouth, despite some performance issues at launch. Of course, Nioh 3 has yet to surpass Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which peaked at 75,906 concurrent players, but it’s getting there.
When it comes to performance woes, Team Ninja’s latest isn’t anywhere near its worst effort, as indicated by the current “Mostly Positive” rating with 77 percent of users giving their approval. However, there are complaints about its performance and stability, especially from those who meet the system requirements. One reviewer noted these same issues even when playing on Low settings at 1080p resolution, despite having a Core i7-14700K and an RTX 4060 Ti.
