Ahead of its release later this week, the official Nioh 3 Twitter celebrated one million downloads of the playable demo, which has been available to PS5 and PC players since last week.
It’s quite the feat, but the fact that all of your progress in the demo does carry over to the final retail version of the game may have had something to do with it. Nevertheless, the demo has been receiving a lot of praise for the open field level design and a combat system that blends bold new ideas (like Style Switching) with the best of the franchise’s past titles.
Nioh 3 puts its players in the shoes of Tokugawa Takechiyo, the next Shogun who transcends time and space across ancient Japan’s vast history in an effort to undo the atrocities wrought by their traitorous brother. Of course, there’s a whole army of soldiers and yokai standing in their way.
But with Samurai and Ninja Styles, a sick combat system, and a bunch of other tricks, Nioh 3 is poised to let you take the fight to your foes with style and substance on February 6th. If you’re thinking about picking up a copy, we’ve got a few details that might help sway your decision.
