Every once in a while, into my inbox launches a game so ridiculous I just have to write it up, and today, that game is Roombattle, a “six-player vacuum-party-battler” that could not be winking harder about its very obvious pun name. Spanish developer Dust Games announced this afternoon that it’s launching March 25th, with a demo open right now.
“In Roombattle, vacuums abandon their cleaning duties to face off in multiple arenas packed with outrageous weapons, balloon-popping mayhem, and nonstop action,” the press release promises. “The premise is simple: be the last vacuum cleaner standing.”
“Designed for up to six players, the game delivers relentless and unpredictable moments across various hilarious minigames and chaotic rooms with crazy physics. Whether players are out to settle scores with friends or simply cause as much destruction as possible, Roombattle promises to be the most fun way to ruin a friendship. Every match also feeds into a full progression system, rewarding players with unlockables as they play,, including new gameplay features and cosmetic items that let each vacuum cleaner reflect its owner’s unique personality. With almost 200,000 combinations of hats, eyes, colors, and accessories, no two vacuums need to look alike.”
It’s a party game, in other words, akin to something like Party Animals, and you can check out the demo on Steam. And then go beg MJ to stream it because obviously we need to try dying to cartoon robot vacuums on video.
