The Hillside Manor strongbox puzzle, alongside the Bluemont Manor strongbox puzzles, will likely be one of the first you find in Crimson Desert as it’s found in Hernand, the first town you visit. It also has the exact same mechanics (although a different solution) as one of the Bluemont Manor puzzles, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to complete. However, if you’re struggling, we’re here to help.

This is the Hillside Manor strongbox puzzle solution in Crimson Desert, and details of the Saint’s Necklace reward you’ll get for completing it.

This strongbox puzzle is found inside the Hillside Manor, which is located in the northeastern portion of Hernand.

One note with the Hillside Manor strongbox puzzle is that the guards will prevent you from entering the building. To get inside, simply climb the outside of the building and open a window, then climb through. The puzzle is in the southwest corner of the second floor.

On the Hillside Manor strongbox puzzle, you’ll be faced with artwork depicting a mountain range beneath a night sky. Under that, you’ll see five two-tone cylinders, silver and bronze, with five wheels beneath them. The wheels can be rotated, and the button on the right-hand side of the strongbox can be pushed.

Your goal is to wind the wheels the correct amount, so that when you push the button, the line in the middle of the cylinders rises to meet the line between the artwork and the wood on the strongbox. From left to right, here is how many times you must wind each wheel:

  • First wheel: two scrolls
  • Second wheel: three scrolls
  • Third wheel: four scrolls
  • Fourth wheel: five scrolls
  • Fifth wheel: five scrolls

Push the button and voila! The strongbox should open, rewarding you with the Saint’s Necklace, which offers five defense and the ability to rapidly restore depleted stamina. However, to pick it up, you also must know how to steal.

Just starting out in Crimson Desert? We have guides to help you learn the basics and refresh your memory on how some of its systems work. The world of Pywel is huge, so you might have a hard time deciding where to go first, but you can make your journey a little easier with the help of our interactive map. Along the way, make sure to learn a few life skills like fishing, logging, cooking, and mining, all of which can help you make money.

We also have walkthroughs for main story quests like “Abyss Without Balance” and “Familiar Curses,” and puzzles in the Abyss like the Root’s End.
