One of the best ways to enhance your PC gaming experience is to grab a great PC controller. The humble mouse and keyboard absolutely have their place, but nothing quite beats the feeling of analog controls in high-intensity action games, or when you’re behind the wheel of a racing game or flight simulator. Fortunately, this Black Friday brings the largest discount Amazon has ever held on one of the best PC controllers on the market.

Even without the 17,000-plus 5-star reviews on Amazon to speak of the gamepad’s quality, our own Xbox wireless controller review found that the gamepad was “a very reliable and quality choice” thanks to its ease of setup and the quality of its grip. The controller already offered great value at its standard price of $64.99 for the baseline models, but it’s a genuine bargain to snag one at just $39.99, putting its price tag in line with our best budget PC controller: the EasySMX X05.

The controller doesn’t offer much by way of RGB lighting or possess Hall Effect thumbsticks and triggers, but it does come in a variety of colors and special editions. Overall, it’s a surprisingly lightweight gamepad with rumble motors in the triggers and handgrips, plus a hybrid D-pad that allows seamless in-game rotational movement – great for bullet hell games like Hades 2 or The Binding of Isaac. I still can’t beat The Beast with The Lost, but I can’t blame the controller for that shortcoming.

The only real flaw that the Xbox controller has is its reliance on AA batteries. You can easily pick up an Xbox controller battery pack or use a USB-C cable to overcome this, but it’s a shame this otherwise great controller doesn’t come with its own rechargeable battery.

You can grab an Xbox wireless controller for just $39.99 on Amazon right now via this link while it’s still at its lowest recorded price. You can also nab the Heart Breaker and Ice Breaker variants via this link here, which have had their more premium price tags reduced down to $49.00 from $79.99.
