Battlestate Games’ Escape from Tarkov has had a rough journey since it entered closed beta, to say nothing of its Steam release. Coinciding with the extraction shooter’s Version 1.0 update, it was plagued by server issues, cheaters, performance issues, and whatnot. However, never discount the appeal of a brutally realistic extraction shooter, as the developer confirmed over one million copies sold following 1.0’s release.

It doesn’t specify how many have bought the game through Steam alone, but it also doesn’t factor in sales for the closed beta, which is impressive. Battlestate also shared some interesting statistics, such as players racking up 135 million hours, the equivalent of over 15,400 years, which translates to more than 200 million Customs raids (assuming they all lasted to the end).

However, only 500 PMCs managed to actually escape from Tarkov – which is indeed the name of the game – and unlocked an ending. Check out our thoughts on the game, and don’t worry – even more content is in the works, including DLC that expands on the Scav play-style and console versions.
