Whether anyone who played it in early access felt like it was ready or not, the horse mystery MMO that is Blue Scarab’s Equinox: Homecoming made its 1.0 release earlier this week, so it’s yet again time to gather up some wider initial impressions.
The game’s player numbers on Steam, which were never particularly barn-burning, did hit a significant spike after 1.0, cresting an all-new maximum concurrency of 1,149 players, with just over 950 at the last 24-hour peak and 585 in-game right now on a Saturday morning when this article is being written.
Player sentiment on the store page sits at “mostly positive” right now, with many enjoying its story and celebrating its potential, while others note a sense of the whole thing feeling rushed out of the door – a sensation that MOP’s Tyler couldn’t quite shake himself, to say nothing of its tacked-on feeling multiplayer aspects.
Since launch, Blue Scarab has put out a hotfix to address to fix bugs with dark horse mane colors, players getting stuck in stable boxes, riding club challenges, and cosmetics issues.
