Last year we started paying attention to Duet Night Abyss, a co-op multiplayer RPG from developer Pan Studio and publisher Hero Games that still has gacha elements, only they’re for cosmetics instead of characters and weapons. MOP’s own Carlo suggested the title as an alternative to Blue Protocol, summarizing its gameplay as “Warframe with waifus.”
While the game has been out on mobile platforms and PC via its own launcher and Epic Games Store for awhile now, this week marked its official launch on Steam, bringing with it full cross-progression for those who want to keep the game going between PC and mobile devices, as well as a new patch that introduces the swordsman Kezhou and login rewards to celebrate the Steam release.
So far the game’s arrival to the platform is seeing a mixed response from gamers, as user reviews talk up the speed of patches and updates to fix problems and the game’s story, while a few others actually decry the grind associated with earning characters over gacha, though there are about as many positive reviews that list that gameplay element as a bonus. So far the Steam version has drawn a respectable 2,000 players, though again that’s just a facet of the population that has otherwise accessed it on other launchers and platforms for some time now.
