As a part of its newest livestream occasion, Bungie premiered a cinematic brief movie for Marathon, marking a recent reintroduction to the rebooted franchise forward of its September launch. The movie, directed by Alberto Mielgo, the Oscar-winning expertise behind The Windshield Wiper and a key artist on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, serves as each a creative showcase and a grim portrait of the sport’s dystopian setting.

The brief delivers a visceral montage of Marathon’s high-stakes world. Runners being torn aside within the area and stylized imagery that captures the existential threat of each mission. Whereas cinematic shorts are sometimes used to drum up pleasure, Mielgo’s work gives greater than flash, it’s world-building with tooth. The animation fashion, audio design, and tone all trace on the deep, unsettling world Bungie is crafting.

Marathon shouldn’t be free-to-play, Bungie confirmed, and can launch as a premium title, however not at full worth. Pricing particulars are nonetheless underneath wraps, however the studio has already spoken about seasonal storytelling, ranked play, and neighborhood occasions as a part of the sport’s live-service roadmap.
