Amazon’s Fallout series executive producer has revealed that filming for the third season of the show is slated to start in Summer 2026. He revealed this in an interview with IGN alongside fellow executive producer, as well as creator and showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet, where they also spoke about the upcoming second season of the show.

“Well I say with regards to production, we’re hoping to be shooting again next summer,” said Nolan. “We’ll see if that all comes together. Best laid plans and all, but I’m excited that the scope of the show feels undiminished season-on-season. Geneva and Graham our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time.”

“I think what’s happened with television in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend. You don’t want the show to lose any of its scope, but we know that we like to be back on the air as soon as we can.”

The duo spoke quite a bit about some of the smaller details from throughout the second season for Amazon’s Fallout. Among the subjects of conversation was how the show will depict the Fallout series’ iconic Deathclaws. They discussed how the production crew used a combination of puppets created for practical effect and CGI for extra details. Robertson-Dworet noted that this hybrid approach was pioneered by Nolan in order to ensure that even the more fantastical things in the show would feel “tactile and real”.

“It’s always an interplay of getting the creatures as practical as we can get them, and its’ a balancing match or maybe a wrestling match between our practical effects, special effects themes and our visual effects teams headed up by Jay Worth,” Nolan explained. “We always endeavour to give Jay as little to do as possible. With the Deathclaw, we took a kind of hybrid approach where we tasked Legacy, who’s the vendor who had built a power armour for us for the first season and a new version for the second season.”

“Knowing from the beginning that we wouldn’t be able to do something on the scale of the Deathclaw from the game unless it was a hybrid approach. Meaning we’re going to build the head, the face, the claws, some of the key aspects of it and have it puppeteered on our set to give as much reality to it as possible, and as much reality for our actors to react with.”

Just last month, actor Aaron Moten – who plays the role of Brotherhood of Steel squire Maximus – had revealed that the Amazon series has no plans on deciding a canon ending for Fallout: New Vegas despite the show taking place in the same physical space as the seminal RPG. He noted that, since the show takes place a number of years after the games, it gives the show plenty of wiggle room when it comes to interpreting certain events that may or may not have happened.

Season 2 of Amazon’s Fallout series is slated to premiere on December 17.
