Episode 8 (“Synergy”) is the final chapter of Dispatch. Robert and the heroes of SDN defend Los Angeles against Shroud and his gang of evil villains.

As this is the last episode, there aren’t many more pivotal choices to make, but you can still improve your credibility as a mentor and become either a hero or an antihero.

Below, we explain all of the choices that actually matter in Dispatch Episode 8, and what outcomes you’ll get from making each one. And if you’re looking for how these choices play out in the long-term, check out our comprehensive guide to all major choices in Dispatch.

All important choices in Dispatch Episode 8 — ‘Synergy’

The first major choice in Episode 8 isn’t necessarily handled through dialogue options, but through your dispatch shift. Depending on your decisions in earlier episodes, like which hero you fired and if Invisigal is still on the team, your work day will be very different.

However, you’ll still have the opportunity to unlock the “All Gas No Brakes” achievement if you successfully defeat your former coworker before the city’s health bar reaches zero. Additionally, you’ll unlock an additional choice at the end of the game that can improve your Hero points.

The actual first important decision comes after you and Royd head down to the lab to find Invisigal. She’ll get ziptied to a desk. Royd will leave to get the power back on and leave the two of you alone. Invisigal will ask you to untie her, but you’ll have the choice to respond with the following:

  • “Why didn’t you tell me?”: No change to the Robert Mentor Counter
  • “You heard Royd.”: No change to the Robert Mentor Counter
  • “I can’t trust you.”: -2 Robert Mentor Counter

Before Robert sets out to stop Thumbstick, Invisigal pleads with him to let her help. You can either:

  • Go it alone: -5 Robert Mentor Counter
  • Untie her: +5 Robert Mentor Counter, Invisigal will help you in the next scene, and you’ll unlock another Hero Counter choice

Afterward, Robert steels himself as he prepares to tase Thumbstick in the back. If you untied Invisigal, she’ll swoop in and shoot him instead. If you went alone, Invisigal will instead give Thumbstick a warning, making him turn around and stab you as you tase him. Thumbstick falls over unconscious, but, unfortunately, as Thumbstick was peeing on a potted plant, he’s a little indecent at the moment.

If you untied Invisigal, she’ll ask you to put it away, to which you can say:

  • “No way.”: +1 Antihero Counter
  • “You do it.”: +1 Antihero Counter
  • “Yeah, alright.”: +1 Hero Counter

If you went alone, you’ll instead run off to the Mecha Man suit.

Eventually, you’ll gain access to the Mecha Man suit and rush outside to battle the evildoers. You’ll meet a few familiar villains in Toxic and Armstrong, but before you fight, you have the chance to say:

  • “Come and claim it.”: +1 Hero Counter
  • “I shoulda dropped you.” (if you pulled up Toxic in Episode 1): +1 Antihero Counter
  • “You’re trash.” (if you dropped Toxic in Episode 1): +1 Antihero Counter
  • “Where’s Shroud?”: +1 Hero Counter

From there, the battle is on, and you’ll encounter a lot of QTEs. Luckily, these QTEs don’t have any effect on the Robert Mentor Counter, so it’s okay to succeed or fail them. The next important decision comes when you face off against your former coworker, which will be Coupé or Sonar depending on who you fired:

  • “It wasn’t personal.”: +1 Hero Counter
  • “Looks like I was right.”: +1 Antihero Counter
  • “I’m sorry.”: +1 Hero Counter

The next important decision comes at the end of the fight, as you must decide Shroud’s fate

  • Spare him: +5 Hero Counter
  • Kill him: +5 Antihero Counter

However, if you didn’t reach at least 45 Robert Mentor points, Invisigal will appear and kill Shroud instead. If you see this scene, that also means Invisigal won’t be your love interest in the ending scenes.

The final decision to make will come after the battle as you witness either Coupé or Sonar being taken away in handcuffs. Mandy will tell you their fate is up to you:

  • Forgive: +3 Hero Counter
  • Forget: +3 Antihero Counter

If you didn’t defeat them and protect Los Angeles, you will have no choice and immediately get +3 Antihero points.

With that choice complete, you’ve successfully made every important decision in Dispatch. Sit back, relax, and watch the rest of the cutscenes play out.
