Gears of War: E-Day Has Gone Gold, Pre-Loads Start on September 29th

With its release mere weeks away, The Coalition’s Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold. In an Xbox Wire post, studio head Mike Crump thanked “the many people who helped bring us to this moment, especially the fans.”

“Your passion for Gears has inspired us every step of the way and reminds us why this franchise continues to mean so much to so many. Thank you to everyone who has played, watched, and shared feedback throughout the journey so far.”

You can start pre-loading the title on September 29th at 8 AM PST, including through Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Of course, those who want to get in early can purchase the Premium Edition, which confers access on October 1st at 8 AM PST. Everyone else will have to wait until October 6th, 8 AM PST, to go hands-on.

Interestingly, the team also released the Achievements list. Lest you think it contains a whole bunch of spoilers, it’s actually pretty straightforward, hiding any potential narrative spoilers behind vague titles. As for the rest, you get Achievements for the usual stuff, like completing all Acts and secondary objectives regardless of the difficulty. Horde Siege has its own, as does Versus, but unfortunately, “Seriously?” from previous titles doesn’t return.

Instead, it’s replaced by “Dead Serious,” earned by 100 percenting the Campaign on the highest difficulty (Insane), maxing out your level, fully upgrading all four classes and earning 25,000 Versus kills. Not something you’ll earn on day one, but plenty doable over several months.

Stay tuned for more details on Gears of War: E-Day when it launches exclusively for Xbox Series X/S and PC. You can also check out our feature on the 15 biggest differences between it and Gears 5 in the meantime.
