It’s a time for big releases, sequels and blockbusters, including Bandai Namco’s Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Launching nearly eight years after the last entry, the storyline involves the war between the Republic of Sotoa and the Federation of Central Usea, with the latter waging its offensive from the FCU Endurance.
As overwhelmed as the Federation may be, they have an ace up their sleeve – the Wings of Theve, a legendary pilot. However, it’s merely a propaganda piece, as the player is forced to take up the mantle when the original, Jan “Rex” Cope, dies. While there are plenty of high stakes involved, there’s also an inkling that people know the Wings of Theve is a farce and lash out as a result.
We also receive our first glimpse of what seems to be the enemy side, though their motivations for the war remain unknown. Either way, if you’re in it for high-speed aerial combat, explosive action and extensive drama, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve should fit the bill. The killer soundtrack certainly doesn’t hurt either.
It’s out on October 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. A four-part live-action prequel series, HOUR ZERO, debuts on September 15th and showcases the events leading up to the war.
