As we get closer to BlizzCon 2026 – slated to take place on September 12th and 13th – it looks like Blizzard has started hinting that it has some plans for the StarCraft franchise. As spotted by Game Informer’s John Carson on BlueSky, the company has made changes to the website for StarCraft Remastered, causing several elements all over the page to display a variety of glitching effects.

These glitches can still be seen at the time of publishing, and it doesn’t look like websites for Blizzard’s other games have been affected by this so far. Also worth noting is the fact that these glitches are only affecting the website for StarCraft Remastered, which would imply that the company’s plans for the franchise revolve around the original game rather than the sequel. StarCraft 2’s website, on the other hand, doesn’t have any glitching effects whatsoever.

Blizzard has generally been quiet when it comes to the seminal real-time strategy franchise, with the last major release aside from a remaster of the original having been 2015’s StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void, which marked the third and final chapter of the trilogy story kicked off with 2010’s Wings of Liberty. While the title got a campaign pack in 2016 dubbed Nova Covert Ops, Blizzard has largely left it alone since then, aside from major balancing and bug-fixing patches every now and then.

Interestingly, rumors have indicated that Blizzard has been working on a new shooter based on the StarCraft universe. A report from back in April noted that the title’s art style would be closer in aesthetics to the pre-rendered cinematics in StarCraft 2 rather than the more stylistic look used by the company’s modern team-based shooter, Overwatch. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, this realistic art style has been “impressive”.

“The realistic graphic style was also impressive. It wasn’t like, I mean, it was hard to tell from the video, but it was not the sort of stylized graphics of Overwatch or whatever, or StarCraft 2, even. It looked like they were going more for the StarCraft 2 cinematics than the more stylized stuff that Blizzard does. If Blizzard’s art style is on a scale, and you’ve got the realistic stuff of Diablo 4, and the stylized stuff of the Pixar-style stuff of Overwatch, it did feel like the StarCraft shooter was way more towards the realism end of the scale.”

As for the team behind the game, Corden has reported that a “dream team” is working on the shooter. “They’re putting together a bit of a dream team for the shooter. So that has me excited on the one hand, but I’ll tell you what excited me was, honestly, just seeing StarCraft again. Seeing the Terrans and the Zerg and all that kind of stuff.”

In the meantime, Blizzard is also expected to showcase some of its other projects at BlizzCon 2026, the Warcraft and Diablo franchises, as well as Overwatch. It is currently unknown if the company will also give us our first look at the next World of Warcraft expansion – The Last Titan.

Hey… so the StarCraft site is glitching out. starcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/
