While Final Fantasy 7 Revelation marks the conclusion of the Remake trilogy, the end is never really the end when it comes to milking the franchise. Square Enix has announced a Story Expansion Pass, included with the Premium Edition (which also includes 24 hours early access), which offers two DLCs – one for Sephiroth and another for Vincent Valentine and the Turks.
Before you think the publisher is trying to get players to pay for the true ending, director Naoki Hamaguchi clarified this wouldn’t be the case. Instead, the DLC focuses on “untold stories” in a spin-off fashion.
While nothing is confirmed on how they could proceed, it’s possible that both offer side stories that provide further insight into the characters. Given how popular Sephiroth has been throughout history and the positive response to playing as him in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it seems like a no-brainer to shine the spotlight on him for one DLC.
The other is more curious because we’ve already seen a story focusing on Vincent and the Turks – Dirge of Cerberus. Considering Hamaguchi’s goal to connect the spin-offs and Advent Children with Revelation, this might fulfill that purpose. Here’s hoping that the results are far better than the awful 2006 title.
Neither DLC has a release date, but Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be out on April 8th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
