The Blood of Dawnwalker Won’t Run at 60 FPS on Consoles (Including PS5 Pro)

Rebel Wolves has finally revealed how its open-world action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker runs on consoles. On PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and PS5, it targets 30 FPS in Quality Mode and 40 FPS in Balanced Mode. Each offers dynamic 4K resolution with “enhanced visual quality” on PS5 Pro.

Of course, you’re probably wondering about 60 FPS, perhaps in Performance Mode. As it turns out, there is none. Xbox Series S also isn’t mentioned, which you can probably take as a hint not to bother. The only way to experience the title at higher frame rates is on PC. That is, unless PlayStation or Xbox wants to fast-track the next generation of consoles.

If it’s any consolation, performance looks solid across all three versions, and the gameplay is the best it’s ever looked, especially in combat. Lighting and shadows look pretty realistic at night, especially the ambient occlusion of torches when they realistically move across Coen.

The real appeal of The Blood of Dawnwalker will be its massive array of choices, even if it still promises a meaty playthrough at about 50 hours (though it could be far less if you’re skilled enough). Maybe that will offset any qualms about the lack of 60 FPS. It’s out on September 3rd for $70, so stay tuned for more details.
