Ghosts Of Tabor Gets A New Publisher & Looks To the Future

Following last week’s news of Beyond Frames selling the rights to Ghosts of Tabor, Grim, and Silent North, Combat Waffle Studios announced Neem Interactive as its new publisher, with an eye on a brighter future.

Combat Waffle Studios is not going anywhere.

That was the main message in a statement from the Ghosts of Tabor developer in light of the Beyond Frames news last week. We reported that Beyond Frames was selling the publishing rights to Combat Waffle’s titles for $1M, an amount equal to the forecasted revenue for those games through 2028.

Beyond Frames Selling Off Publishing Rights To Combat Waffle’s Games For $1M

Beyond Frames is selling its publishing rights to Combat Waffle Studio’s Ghosts of Tabor, Silent North, and Grim for $1 million.

It would be easy to make errant assumptions about the future of Combat Waffle after this sale and the studio’s recent layoffs. Point of fact, the original Beyond Frames statement was sent to me directly by a reader with a simple question: is Combat Waffle dead?

I read it, immediately wrote back “no, this is a good thing for both sides” and wrote the article linked above to hopefully clarify how the publisher/developer relationship works and why a separation is a net positive if both companies are not on the same page.

At the time of the article, we did not know the circumstances that led to the sale of the rights. Combat Waffle’s Scott Albright alluded to a possible disconnect with Beyond Frames in a previous message on LinkedIn and clarified that it spearheaded this process in the Neem announcement:

“We’re incredibly excited to finally be moving forward,” said Scott Albright, CEO of Combat Waffle Studios. “Ghosts of Tabor has a massive amount of potential, and we wanted the freedom and the right partner to pursue it. We believe we have that now.”

“For us, the right publishing partner has to bring more to the table than collecting a royalty check,” Albright said. “We want a partner that actively helps build the business, opens doors, creates opportunities, and invests in the long term. That’s what we’re excited about with Neem Interactive.”

The statement goes on to say that Combat Waffle “had been working toward greater publishing independence since 2025.” With Neem, the developer can look to the future with a stated desire to expand the Tabor universe beyond just a single game. Ghosts of Tabor: Legacy released on Meta Quest and Steam on July 31 and at the time of this article, it sits as the top paid release on the Meta Horizon store in the last 30 days with 1.3k ratings and a 4.5 score. The statement promises that the studio is not filing for bankruptcy, another inaccurate rumor, and Tabor is still in active development with more content to come.

As for the new publisher, Neem Interactive’s website offers very little about the company’s background other than it recently published flatscreen co-op extraction builder Grain Rot on Steam on August 7. The Steam listing for Ghosts of Tabor has already been updated to list Neem as publisher and we expect other platforms to follow soon.
