Don’t look now, but there appears to be another multiplayer “friendslop” title that’s taking the internet by storm. It’s Meccha Chameleon, a game from solo developer lemorion_1224 that pits teams against each other in a game of hide-and-seek, only the hiders have to paint their blank bodies to try to blend into the environment.
“The rules are simple. Split into the Seeker team and the Hider team to play hide-and-seek. The Seekers win if they find everyone within the time limit. […] Deceive the Seekers’ eyes with a mimicry that would even surprise a chameleon.”
The painting mechanic is a central part of being a successful hider, as some measure of artistic skill, character placement, and pose all play a factor in being able to hide effectively. The painting tools are also pretty robust, with color capturing features, pens, brushes, and a full color wheel at players’ disposal. The game supports up to 24 players, with lobbies that can be built for friends only or for public play.
The game is already an absolute smash hit, boasting “very positive” user reviews on Steam, three million copies sold in total as of this week, and some extremely respectable numbers on Steam, with a current all-time concurrency of over 230K. What’s more, the game is just $6, so it’s also a bargain as well as an apparently good time. Take a peek for yourself in the video below.
