The Ragnarok franchise in MMORPGs has been around almost as long as the genre with so many versions and spinoffs that it can be hard to keep track of them all, from the OG MMO to Raganarok M, Ragnarok 2 and 3, Ragnarok M Classic, Ragnarok V Returns, Ragnarok Origin, Ragnarok Masters, and even a few like crypto game Ragnarok Libre and Ragnarok Labyrinth NFT that are probably better off left forgotten. I would be lying if I said this was all of them. That’s just what I found searching back through MOP’s pages. The presser today mentions Ragnarok: The New World and Ragnarok Twilight, which I’ve never even heard of. It’s a lot.
And here comes another one! Today, studio Gravity has officially announced that its new mobile MMO Ragnarok: Rebirth Global is kicking off a seven-day closed beta starting today for players in Canada, Mexico, and Colombia on both Android and Apple, with the promise of a wipe at the end. Ragnarok Rebirth has already been out in Asia since 2024, and as it says on the tin, this is the Global version finally making its way to us.
“Built upon the classic foundation of the RO series, Ragnarok: Rebirth Global introduces a brand-new way to experience the adventure. The game supports seamless switching between landscape and portrait modes, allowing players to adjust their playstyle anytime based on different situations. […] In Ragnarok: Rebirth Global, the six classic classes — Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Thief, Errende, and Merchant — return with refreshed visuals and updated class identities. Each class has received a full character art upgrade, blending the familiar charm of RO with a modern art style to create more vivid and distinctive character designs. Beyond their new appearances, class skills and combat styles have also been further optimized. Combined with the familiar ASPD 193 attack-speed experience, players can once again enjoy the fast-paced and satisfying battle rhythm that defines the classic RO series.”
Download instructions are up on Facebook; Android fans need only download it directly through the Play Store, while iOS fans need to download and run it through TestFlight.
We do want to call readers’ attention to all the references to topping up; while you can indeed put money into this game during the closed beta, it will apparently be restored to you with “up to a 200% Diamond return” come launch, so YMMV on that.
