Hey, remember Time Takers? Probably not, so here’s a recap: NCsoft announced it’d be publishing a “time survival” shooter back at the end of 2024, and last summer at Gamescom, it revealed the game as Time Takers. It sort of got overshadowed because NCsoft announced Cinder City (an actual MMO shooter) at the same show, but at the time, we thought Time Takers looked like a cross between something like Arc Raiders and Lawbreakers.
Well, we’re about to find out for real, as this afternoon, NCsoft and studio Mistil Games have opened beta test signups for this squad survival shooter and its initial roster of 12 heroes.
“Drawing on the hero-focused combat of titles like Overwatch and Apex Legends, Time Takers promises frantic squad-based action with a time-based twist. Characters and arenas are plucked from throughout history to form the setting for this stylish shooter, but it’s the Time Energy mechanic that makes it stand out. Time and seconds replace currency and health. As you fight in your three-person squad, you pull from a pool of Time Energy. Choose if you want to share a few extra seconds with your teammate to get them back in the fight, or spend your time upgrading your hero mid-match to become the most dangerous hero in the arena.”
Players in the Americas can smash the Steam sign-up button for their ticket for the beta, which begins on March 13th; players elsewhere can try their luck on social media or in Discord. PC and console launch is expected later in 2026.
