Hytale’s studio head promises the game is meant as a ‘forever game’

It’s been a wild ride for Hytale over the last few months as it moved from canceled to uncanceled to actually being a reasonable hit. Of course, the game is also currently in early access, so the reality is that there is work still actively being done on the game. But what happens after that? According to studio head Simon Collins-Laflamme on Twitter, what happens after that is… more updates, as he promises that the title is a “forever game” that will keep being updated.

Naturally, some fans are curious about how the promise of continual updates forever will interact with monetization, but the important issue appears to be that the game is not meant to be finished and then forgotten. And seeing as the game is currently in early access (as mentioned) and is still enjoying the salad days of player fascinating, it’s perhaps a bit early to be getting worried about eventual monetization issues. Still, it’s probably good to know that the plan is to keep going tomorrow and tomorrow on down the line.
