Blizzard is kicking off a new year of Overwatch 2 with a new vision for the future

Blizzard is hosting a special Overwatch Spotlight event to highlight changes coming to Overwatch 2 in 2026. The Overwatch Spotlight goes live on Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. PST on Twitch and YouTube.

Here’s what that looks like around the rest of the world.

  • 1 p.m. EST
  • 3 p.m. BRT
  • 6 p.m. GMT
  • 7 p.m. CET
  • 3 a.m. JST on Feb. 5
  • 5 a.m. AEDT on Feb. 5

Blizzard is also running a set of Twitch drops with two rewards up for grabs if you watch a participating creator’s channel.

  • New Era Zarya (Epic skin, 30 minutes of watch time)
  • 1 Epic loot box (one hour of watch time)

In the blog post announcing the showcase, Blizzard said it’s:

“… kicking off the next chapter of Overwatch with a dedicated keynote, diving headfirst into what’s ahead. This is where we pull back the curtain, set the stage for what’s coming next, and share how the world of Overwatch is evolving, plus the part you play in the next big story. Spotlight is built to bring everyone into the fight for a better future.”

Which, admittedly, isn’t saying much, as the team is being rather coy about what to expect. The only hint about Blizzard’s plans for Overwatch 2 in 2026 involves Talon, the antagonistic counterpart to Overwatch in the game’s lore, playing some kind of role. Talon member Vendetta has occupied the game’s main menu screen in the final weeks of Overwatch 2 season 20, following her debut as a damage hero earlier in the season, and the settings menu got a Talon-themed makeover as well.

The Overwatch Spotlight follows a strong year for Blizzard’s once-troubled sequel, where it finally stepped out of the wreckage of its scrapped PvE mode and started establishing a stronger identity for itself. Blizzard previously said the goal for Overwatch‘s future included building more player freedom and digging further into “hero fantasy” with each character’s kit.

We’ll find out on Wednesday what that future might look like.
