Samson: A Tyndalston Story Unveiled With Trailer, is Liquid Swords’ Open-World Action Game Debut

Liquid Swords – the studio founded by former Avalanche Studios COO and co-founder Christofer Sundberg – has finally officially unveiled the open-world title it has been working on. Dubbed Samson: A Tyndalston Story, the game was unveiled with a brand new trailer which you can check out below.

The trailer gives us a look at the main setting of the open-world game – the eponymous Tyndalston – and the protagonist, who we can assume is named Samson. The main story in Samson: A Tyndalston Story seemingly revolves around the protagonist being in deep debt and needing to fight against never-ending forces to get back to normalcy. As the character says in the trailer, the world of Tyndalston doesn’t seem to allow for much reprieve for those who might be in debt, and collectors will be all too happy to send their goons to make sure that the money comes back on time.

While the trailer was primarily focused on the story itself, we also get a few flashes of what might be gameplay. These include some driving sequences that, among other things, also involve a car chase against the cops, as well as a more intimate chase sequence along the tighter turns and smaller lanes of inner-city alleys. Along with this, there are also a few flashes of melee combat, with Samson taking on enemies with his wild fighting style focused on striking and taking out his foes with quick grapples.

According to the description of the title on Steam, Samson: A Tyndalston Story will feature the concept of debt as part of its core gameplay. Players will have access to a limited number of action points that can then be spent on missions. Each in-game day also presents a new daily quota that players have to hit in order to get out of debt. Failing to hit this quota means that the interest spikes will cause the following day to get even worse.

To help you out, Samson will have access to two main modes of combat, described as brawling and weaponised driving. Brawling will have Samson make use of momentum, terrain, and improvised tools to take on enemies. While in high-speed chases, however, Samson will also be able to use his impressive driving skills to turn his entire car into a deadly weapon. The title will also feature more than 25 upgrades in its skill tree that can help in unlocking even more abilities.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story has been confirmed as coming to PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. It doesn’t, however, have a release window yet. For another look at Samson: A Tyndalston Story, check out the screenshots that had been released by Liquid Swords all the way back in October 2024. These screenshots had already started teasing what the streets of Tyndalston will look like well before the game’s title was even officially announced.

In the meantime, also check out details of Liquid Swords getting hit with a round of lay-offs earlier this year while development on its debut title was continuing.
