My top choice of external SSD has a 32% discount for Black Friday - don't miss this great Samsung deal

If you’re looking for a fast, convenient, and tough way to store your data while on the move, you cannot do better than the Samsung T9 external SSD right now. It’s incredibly fast yet tiny and tough. All this and, right now, you can save up to 32% on these dinky drives during this year’s Black Friday sales.

Samsung has dropped the price across all the sizes of what is quite simply the best external SSD you can currently buy. So, whether you want a relatively affordable 1TB drive for smaller storage needs or you’re on the hunt for a massive 4TB option, you can still save serious cash right now. Not bad, considering SSD prices have otherwise been going up recently.

There are two factors that make this drive so great. The first is that it’s really small and light yet tough. It’s just ‎4.3 ounces (122g) and measures 88 x 60 x 14mm, yet still has a thick, rubberized exterior that will protect the drive from some serious knocks (it’s rated to survive falls of 3m/10ft). It isn’t technically water or dustproof – you’ll want the Samsung T7 Shield for that – but it’ll shrug off most splashes.

In my Samsung T9 review I found it to be an incredibly fast drive. It’s rated to up to 2,000MB/s sequential read and write, depending on the capacity, and that was borne out in my testing.

As well as the 1TB and 4TB models, you can also get this drive in a 2TB capacity, and all versions are discounted. The 1TB model has a 32% price drop, while the other two models get 25% off. This translates to savings of $45 on the 1TB, $60 on the 2TB, and $140 on the 4TB models.

You can grab all these discounts both via Samsung’s store and other retailers, such as Amazon. The standout deal is the 1TB model, which you can find on Samsung’s site here or on Amazon here, but all sizes are currently at great prices.
